Reducing the cost of waste disposal
Realising that the average sludge contained a high percentage of water, which was needlessly being transported for disposal at the local waste water Treatment works, Harpers decided to look for a on-site system that would take the treatment works to the sludge and the AVC/dosing pump system was seen to be the most cost effective.
The principle behind the AVC/dosing pump system is to deliver a high volume reduction of sludge. The dosing unit is used to mix polymer into the sludge as it is being pumped into the AVC dewatering container. The mixing of polymer into the sludge creates a flocculation that increases the speed and efficiency of the dewatering process. The Dosing unit pumps the sludge into the AVC dewatering container where the separation of the water and dry matter occurs.
The AVC consists of a closed container, equipped inside with filtration screens. The filtration screens drain and de-water the flocculated sludge. This gives you clean water that can be reprocessed and a filter cake which can be take to landfill for disposal with a 60% reduction in volume.
Initially one of our dewatering experts will visit your site and carry out a site survey, We will take sample of the liquid and sludge waste. We will then test the waste to ensure that it can be dewatered; the testing will also determine the quality of the filter cake. This process will be carried out in our laboratory’s once this has been completed a full proposal will be submitted to our client.
